Losing Body Fat the Right Way
Posted in Health on July 10th, 2009 by Mark Wilson – Be the first to commentLosing body fat is important in order to stay healthy. Overweight people are more likely to get heart disease as well as strokes because of the pressure extra weight causes.
People often lose weight when they diet but the results never seem to be permanent. Unfortunately, you can gain fat just as fast as or faster than you can lose body fat. The reason is not eating enough food may make your body thinner, but it also slows down your metabolism. Once you go back to eating the regular amount of food your metabolism is no longer able to burn off calories as quickly causing you to gain weight. Taking appetite suppressants can also lower your metabolism and if you stop taking appetite suppressants you will gain the weight back quickly.
The weight lost by reduced food intake will not last, and is unsafe. When the body is deprived of nutrients, what is lost is muscle weight and body liquids, and not fat. All types of eating related maladies are harmful to the human immune system, body metabolism, and to the overall health of the body.
Because so many Americans have health problems either from eating too much or too little, eating therapy is available. Eating therapy helps people take control of their eating habits so they can reach and stay at their desired body weight. The therapy is divided to four parts; measuring and describing your current eating habits, describing the events that create the need to over eat, learning how to control the craving for food and eliminating bad eating habits to develop new healthy ones instead.
