Good old Micky piped up and said out of the blue that there was no prestige left in cigar smoking since anyone can now find one at a variety of places. There was a time, Micky lamented, when it was a more exclusive “club”…being a cigar smoker.

This lit a fire under Johnny boy, who got real upset at this. His status as a cool cigar smoker is real important to Johnny and he couldn’t stand that this status was being questioned.
Since he smokes top-of-the-line cigars, Johnny yelled that it doesn’t matter if some guy can pick up a bunch of cheap cigars down at the local corner store or not. He wasn’t smoking some $2 cigar…he was holding the most expensive Diamond Crown a guy can find, he screamed at us.

We all thought about what he said for a moment. We all tried really hard to act like we were thinking seriously about this important topic while we all were staring at the ass of that twenty-something walking by.
When the lovely distraction was out of the way, we got back to the task at hand…had the exclusivity of smoking our cigars been taken away a bit by the greater cigar availability in recent years? Was it true? Were we not as cool as we thought sitting out on the street smoking?

We argued back and forth about this for quite some time. Johnny kept yelling louder and louder about how cool we all were for being cigar smokers. Actually, we think he was getting louder more from the fact that he had just downed his third drink of the evening, but who’s to say?
Well, we never did come to a decision on the truth about all this. However, since we were saved from a fistfight by our lovely girlfriends…who had come to pick us up for a hot night out…shows that Johnny was quite right. We’re all pretty damn cool smoking our cigars with these hot ladies on our arms.
