Hollywood Travel Agencies History Tours

Posted in Sports on October 22nd, 2010 by Phil Guye – Be the first to comment

Hollywood travel agencies know that the place wasn’t always the city filled with lights, bustling with recreation and the residential home of superstars that we all know these days. As a result of its strong branding, it is possible to put aside the history, just what Hollywood has been and how it came to be the destination of sophisticated style, glitz and fame as we know it. Hollywood travel agencies are frequently hectic but it’s likely that it is because of people today eager to see celebrities and take photos of popular Hollywood landmarks for themselves. Though this is true, it is also fascinating to find out the rich historical past of the place and also understand how history unraveled.

Hollywood was once occupied with the Spaniards and by 1870, an agricultural local community flourished in the region. In 1886, a certain H.H. Wilcox purchased a piece of land and named it “Hollywood”. Eventually, he created a grid plan for it and introduced Prospect Avenue that will eventually be called Hollywood Boulevard. Prospect Avenue flourished and grew to become a famous household street. In 1911, the very first film studio had been transferred from chilly Chicago to an old tavern in Los Angeles. It thrived because of the open space and also the moderate climate in California. To this very day, Hollywood is a seat of the movie industry where movies are made and where top celebrities wander. Thus, Hollywood travel agencies are invariably busy with the many visitors who wish to visit.

The start of the movie industry created a very good difference and soon after, high-rise commercial buildings, banks, dining places, clubs and theaters started sprouting. The Spanish impact continued and has been shown in Hollywood’s extravagance and was fused with Art Deco and Modern styles. This can be seen in Hollywood’s sophisticated style and sophistication. Hollywood travel agencies offer tours that reveal the architecture and lifestyle of the area. Ever since then, Hollywood has become consistently reforming and bustling with life. These days, it’s a diverse and productive society that’s striving to keep the beauty of its past.

The Legacy Of Japan’s Pro Wrestling Icon Mitsuharu Misawa

Posted in Sports on September 18th, 2010 by Ross Everett – Be the first to comment

Mitsuharu Misawa died in Hiroshima, Japan earlier this year less than a week before his 47th birthday. He was in a tag team match for his Pro Wrestling NOAH promotion with Go Shiozaki against Bison Smith and Akitoshi Saito. Saito hit a back suplex on Misawa, which appeared to knock him unconscious. Medical staff attempted to revive him in the ring, but when CPR failed he was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Initial reports in the Japanese media suggest that he was pronounced dead at the hospital, but a number of eyewitness accounts have speculated that he may have died in the ring.

That’s at least a small bit of solace amid the tragedy of Misawa’s death–he died in the ring doing what he loved, and what he did better than just about anyone on the planet. Misawa’s last moments were spent working the kind of brutally stiff, athletically realistic match that got a generation hooked on Japanese wrestling.

A top level amateur wrestler in high school, his skill gained the attention of All Japan Pro Wrestling president Shohei Giant Baba. He made his professional debut in’81, and got his first big break in’84 when he was chosen as the second Tiger Mask replacing Satoru Sayama. In’90, he had his longtime tag team partner (and occasional rival) Toshiaki Kawada unmask him.

Brandon Roy To Remain A Blazer For The Foreseeable Future

Posted in Basketball on August 31st, 2010 by Ross Everett – Be the first to comment

After a summer of heated negotiations, the Portland Trailblazers have signed All Star shooting guard Brandon Roy to a five year contract extension. Roy will be in the final year of his rookie contract in the 2009-2010 NBA season, and locking up the services of their ‘franchise player’ was the teams top summer priority.

The on court success and off court class of Brandon Roy may have saved the Portland NBA franchise. The Blazers slumped from their glory years of the 1970’s and 1980’s as the 1990’s progressed, eventually pulling together a roster consisting of character challenged reprobates that earned the moniker JailBlazers for their frequent legal transgressions.

In the late 1990’s, Portland owner Paul Allen finally had enough and cleaned house. The new management was given the charge to put together a roster that would not only win games, but win back the Rose City fans. The acquisition of Roy will likely be looked at as the turning point for this effort. The Blazers acquired Roy on draft day 2006 for Randy Foye, and would go on to win the NBAs rookie of the year award.

Making A Living With Horror Movies

Posted in Sports on August 22nd, 2010 by Adriana Noton – Be the first to comment

Think about all of the movies that are loved the most, or hated the most, or actually thought about the most, and there is a very good chance that some of them are horror movies. Scary films have been known to be box office gold for years, and for very good reason. People just love to sit in the dark getting sacred stupid with each other.

Maybe it is the adrenaline rush when the scary monster jumps onto the screen. Maybe it is the fact that folks can allow themselves to get frightened knowing all along that it is all make believe. Certainly it is the opportunity for a date to get closer together and maybe squeeze hands. Yeah, scary movies are fun indeed.

So when one is watching those things, does one ever wonder what kind of sick mind is putting them all together? Many do, and some to the point of fascination. There is a stereotypical type; they go to wacky conventions dressed up like ghouls and vampires on their time off. But those running those conventions know something that others do not.

Colts’ Owner Irsay Says Team Will Break Bank To Retain Peyton Manning

Posted in Sports on August 7th, 2010 by Ross Everett – Be the first to comment

In what has to be one of the least difficult front office personnel decisions in sports history, Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay has confirmed that the team will sign quarterback Peyton Manning to a contract extension that could make him the highest paid player in NFL history. Manning’s current deal will expire after the end of the 2010 season, with the final two years having been voided due to his meeting a number of performance based criteria. The decision was made before the Colts’ Superbowl loss to the New Orleans Saints.

You can tell that an owner is adamant about resigning a player when he tells the media that he wants to make him the highest paid player in league history, and Irsay did just that at the NFL’s Superbowl media day:

“You know it’s going to get done. I think it’s clear, and we’ll start on it this summer. That’s been the way we do things [to hammer out an extension when a player is entering the final year of his contract]. And it’ll be the biggest [contract] in history; there’s not much doubt about that.”
