Is Pinball Down For The Count?

Posted in Sports on January 3rd, 2011 by Ross Everett – 9 Comments

For most of the 20th century it seemed that pinball was sort of the ‘cockroach’ of the amusement industry–just too tough and/or too adaptable to kill. It survived wars, economic downturn, moral outrage and most recently video games. Despite the changing cultural climate, it was still a shock when WMS Industries, the dominant player in the industry for the past decade and the maker of Williams and Bally machines, announced that it was getting out of the business several years ago. WMS wasn’t in any sort of financial peril, but rather they wanted to focus on their more lucrative slot machine and video poker business.

At one point, pinball dominated the arcade. During the mid to late 1970s and on the heels of the movie version of the Who pinball themed rock opera Tommy arcades nationwide featured row upon row of gleaming new machines from one of over a half dozen US manufacturers (with many others made worldwide). The first salvo of the video game industry was fairly innocuous”Pong didnt do much to dent pinballs popularity since it didnt exactly offer the same immersive challenge. Besides, it took two to tango when it came to Pong, so that game and its progeny had more of an impact at the home level (and paved the way for what would become a huge industry). The first challenge to the popularity of the pinball machine in the arcade began with Midways Space Invaders and Ataris Asteroids. These games could be played alone, and offered the same sort of escapism that pinball provided. For the arcade owner, these games took up less space, required less maintenance, and offered a higher customer turnover.

Pinball hung in there, however, and through the early eighties continued to make some solid games. The ones that come immediately to mind are games like Firepower (which helped launched the now ubiquitous multi-ball feature), Black Knight (offering an early version of the looping ramps found on many modern machines) and a couple of fun machines from Bally Paragon and Flash Gordon. Several games were spun off from video games, including a couple of good ones”Spy Hunter and Space Invaders and a number of not so good ones based on the Pac Man video games. Bally even made a game called Baby Pac Man that was a video/pinball hybrid. For awhile, the choice between pinball and video games was similar to the choice between Pepsi and Coke: both were equally pervasive and it was simply a matter of personal preference.

The Warning Sign – PS3 Flashing Red Light Due To Overheating

Posted in Sports on December 15th, 2010 by Glenn Atkins – Be the first to comment

For game players, not everything can be regarded as a great idea after you commence with your game. This is usually experienced by those like you who play their games using their PlayStation 3 console, as they are facing their number one arch-enemy : the red light. Having that forsaken PS3 blinking red light flash at you while in the middle of your game with your PlayStation 3 is the most annoying, threatening, and life changing among the game-players who are crazy about their PlayStation 3. The red lights are not there merely for design ; they are the game console’s caution device that signals you to stop when it’s time to, for many different reasons.

The major cause of the PS3 blinking red light is usually overheating. Dust building up within your console may be one of the reasons for overheating, sending you the Red flash of death, destroying your quality game time. This can cause only minor damages to your console’s motherboard, but on the other hand, if it could be a possibly perilous threat to your console and your gaming time, it is sensible to take care of it, after all.

Constant cleaning is the first solution to avoid PS3 blinking red light caused by overheating. Avoiding the likely increase of dust will most probably stop it. At such time when you feel like it’s too late to stop it ( like the red light is already flashing by the point you spotted it ), you do not want to panic, for there are 3 general cures you could try to solve that difficulty.

Welcome to my Zygor In-Game Alliance … Horde World of Warcraft 1-80 Leveling Guides Article.

The Zygor Leveling Guides are designed to enable World of Warcraft players to quickly increase their level. With the new Zygor Guide you don’t have to switch back and forth between screens so you can keep your attention on the game play.

There are two separate screen modes. One is a large picture view that shows you all of the steps that you need to complete to advance your character in the quests. Players do not use this modes a lot because the amount of information affects the game play. The second screen mode is smaller and shows the current and next steps that you need to complete the current quest. A small arrow shows you the direction in which you need to travel to reach the next encounter or step in the quest.

Zygor’s Leveling Guide is an easy to use guide for newer players and it’s the least intrusive one. You will learn from the guide as your your character’s level improves to the next level.

Online Casino Games Are More Fun Then Going There

Posted in Sports on September 26th, 2010 by Simon M Skinner – Be the first to comment

There are many different online casino games out there. It is hard to decide whether or not it is real. Some look like they are and they are not. Others are authentic and even I have played a few of the ones that are out there.

If you go to the website of one you have selected you can see that you are gong to be told that you can play for free for the first few dollars. Usually it is 5. 00-25. 00 and then after that they will double what you put in there to play with when you make that first deposit.

You can deposit money from your bank account, charge cards or from pay pal. Like I said once you do that they will instantly deposit money in there as well for you. IF you win and want to use the money in real life just transfer it back through pay pal. This though, can take a few days so make sure you aren’t doing it cause you have no money because you can count on not seeing this money till at least one week has gone by from when you deposited it.

There are usually different games that you can play as well. You have everything from the penny slots to the two dollar slots and all the different gambling games that you would find at the normal casino to. There are a lot of tutorials if you are not sure how to play the game as well. If it is a game like poker you are even able to make your own avatar and see it play the game for you.

Seahawks Blitz Broncos To Remain Perfect On The NFL Preseason

Posted in Sports on August 11th, 2010 by Ross Everett – Be the first to comment

Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck and Denver’s Kyle Orton both played fairly well in the first half, but the Seahawks reserves pulled away in the second half. The Seahawks improved to 2-0 on the NFL preseason with a 27-13 win over the Denver Broncos. The Broncos dropped to 0-2 in their exhibition contests.

Hasselbeck completed 16 passes in 23 attempts including two touchdowns, though he was sacked three times. That was a big concern as he missed considerable time last season due to a back injury, but appeared to suffer no ill effects here. Still, the Seahawks starting QB said it was a traumatic experience:

“It’s just like I remembered- no fun. … I forgot how hard people hit in here. It’s just like a car accident. It’s part of the game … and it was probably good that it happened.”
