All About The Airsoft Guns
Posted in Sports on February 4th, 2010 by Anthony Carter – 1 CommentAirsoft guns have been around for quite awhile. They were built out of necessity, but now have become more of a recreational toy. They were introduced in Japan years ago; however, they have not been in the U. S. For very long. They are gaining widespread popularity as the years pass.
At one time in the 1970s, it was illegal for anyone to own a firearm in Japan. Manufacturers then developed knock-offs of military weapons. These knock-offs became known as airsoft guns. They only operated off of a spring mechanism. Now, the technology and style of the guns have progressed.
The airsoft guns shoot plastic BBs as ammunition. The plastic ammunition is considered to be safer than metallic’s as they will not break the skin. The ammunition is normally available in 6 mm and 8 mm sizes. There are metal BBs available for use with the guns; however, they are more dangerous because they do break the skin.
As mentioned earlier, the spring-shot airsoft guns come only in a single-shot design. With each shot, you have to pull a lever, slide, bolt, or other mechanism to reload the ammunition into the firing chamber. Even though they shoot slower, there is an advantage to owning the spring-powered guns. One advantage is that they cost less. Another advantage is that they will always shoot without having to rely upon an outside power source.
