So many devices we use every day require battery power, ranging from cell phones and laptops to cars, childrens’ toys, golf carts, smoke alarms and thermostats – even most watches. Batteries are an indispensable part of modern life, and they have to be at least partially charged in order to work.

It can be annoying and quite inconvenient to discover that some gadget or item you wanted to use won’t work because of a dead battery. Spring is nearly here, and whether you are taking out the quad that won’t start, the golf cart that won’t go, or just a hand held electronic game that won’t turn on, the end result is no fun for you. Having the right battery chargers, and remembering to take the time to keep your electrical devices powered up, will prevent this annoyance.

It seems that everything we use requires a different size and type of battery, and of course a different charger for each size as well. These chargers are designed to provide the correct charges and discharges for different battery and device types. For instance, NiCads and other batteries that are commonly used in electronic devices that require a slow discharge over a long period of operation, benefit from a discharge-recharge cycle.

Cars, trucks, and other larger devices usually utilize lead acid batteries. These power sources will last longer if they are kept at a full charge and topped off regularly. They are typically required to discharge a lot of energy quickly to get an engine going or a cart moving. NiMH and Li-Ion are other common rechargeable battery types often used in small electronic devices. No matter which type of battery is involved, making sure it is cycled in the right way will keep it in peak condition for the best life possible, plus it will be ready when you need it.
